Kick the Sun

Kick the Sun SR.png

In the sea of moments that made up our
two days - or two hours or two lifetimes,
it’s hard to say -

it’s soaking you in as I did the sun,
the blue of your eyes
across from me,
that is the moment I want again.

The expression goes that hearts are worn
on sleeves, but with you it’s in your eyes -
when you’re still, when you’re watching me,

when you’re listening, when the distractions
fall away and it’s just two souls together,
reaching in to pull out the other,
and those blue eyes there, giving all of you.

I want to race to the horizon,
kick the sun back across the sky,
and start it over - have another day,
another chance to bask in your blue.
