The London I
Over sea and the city
I oversee you and me
Round and round I go
grasping for proof
of what I already know.
Drawn into our story again and again
I could recite each moment now
without hesitation.
Paths through parks and peppermint tea
past midnight we walked
our hearts and minds cracked fully.
Though I find that with each go around
there's a slight variation,
your hair a different shade of brown.
Or sometimes it's the feeling,
the admiration that flowed freely,
seems to balk a little and sends me reeling.
And I wonder, in five years or ten
will the alterations add up
to another tale being spun?
I want to get off this ride in my mind
to preserve the you and I
who share a future aligned.
